Katie & Andrew’s Hampton Virginia Engagaemnt Portraits
How they met…
Bzz bzz bumble! Katie said “Yo”, and then Andrew asked her to lunch! Katie was a bit confused by him choosing lunch but she let it play out. It’s a good thing she did. They got pizza and the rest is history! A few years later we met for their Hampton Virginia Engagement Portraits!
Katie and Andrew are getting married next year at a private estate here in Hampton Roads along the water. After a few years of long-distance living, filled with more pizza dates they’ll gather their closest people to say I Do!
The proposal…
Get ready this is a sweet one. Light straight out of a hallmark movie good! You might need a tissue!
One Saturday in November, they went out to SoWa, an art district in Boston. They spent the afternoon walking through many galleries and shops until a gallery downstairs caught Andrew’s eye and he encouraged Katie to go in with him. There was loud piano music playing, which ended up being not from the speakers, but from a live pianist hidden around the corner! An oil painting reminiscent of Van Gough was on display on an easel – a scene of a peony flower among a sea of green textured grass. Written on the back of the painting was “Will you marry me”, with the date and place “November 14, 2020”. Eventually, after a long-drawn-out monologue which neither of them remembers, Andrew got down on one knee and proposed with a ring they had looked at together months earlier in NY.
That’s not all! The proposal was followed by oysters and then a lovely dinner with Andrew’s sister and her boyfriend to celebrate. When Katie thought the night was finally over, Andrew pulled into the four seasons and surprised her with a staycation in downtown Boston!
For their engagement portraits, we wanted to do a beachy feel! We were even ready to dance in the rain if the forecasted storms didn’t roll past in time! We lucked out, and received the most beautiful evening and an epic sunset as a reward!
