Norfolk Date Night Ideas

Here are our Top 5 Norfolk Date Night Ideas! We enjoy a good date night! It’s a much-needed activity if you’re dating, engaged, or married. We’re doing a date night series to give you local and non-local date night ideas to get you out of a rut and into fun with your favorite person.

Brewery + Pottery Class Date Night

Alex outdid himself with this date night! He planned a great Christmas-themed date night. However you can do this any time of the year, we’ll be doing it again for sure! Start your evening at one of the many great local breweries here in the 757! For this date night, we chose Smartmouth Brewing. The bonus was finding out they were having a vintage market, and we snagged a couple of ugly sweaters to make it a full Christmas vibe! Part two of the date night was at All Hands Pottery! They have amazing beginning classes, specialty events, and more! We joined them for their Christmas tree event. I highly recommend it; it’s also a female veteran-owned business, and it’s so much fun!

Glass After Dark

The Chrysler Museum of Art has the amazing Perry Glass Studio. During the week at noon, they have free live demonstrations, BUT if you’re a fan of glass blowing, they do Glass After Dark. It’s 21+; they have a bar, snacks, great music, and even more amazing art! This truly was one of our favorite date nights last year. You will need to buy tickets ahead of time; you can get in at the door, but it is not guaranteed. To round out this date night, you can grab dinner at one of the many downtown Norfolk delicious restaurants!

Hermitage Museum – Concerts

We love the Hermitage Museum, and we have many weddings there each year. The gardens are gorgeous, the museum is beautiful, and their art installations are fantastic! They also have a concert series called Sunsets on the River on Thursday nights each summer. Grab a little picnic and some drinks, and go chill to some great local music as the sun sets. Not into concerts? The Hermitage Museum offers many markets, and a regular date night to walk the gardens or the museum is absolutely perfect!

The Pagoda Date Night

This is more of a downtown Norfolk date. Grab your favorite takeout; ours is Zeke’s! They have the best poke bowls in the area. Then we hop across the street to the Hummingbird cafe for Macron’s and other delicious desserts! We take all of it down to The Pagoda. Here, you can sit at the colorful Pagoda, listen to the waterfall, or walk around the garden. If you go at sunset, you’ll be able to sit by the water and have a beautiful view of the colorful sky. Queue all the romantic vibes!

Tides Game & Ferry

This has easily become one of our favorite summer date nights in Norfolk. We’ll park in downtown Portsmouth or Norfolk, catch the ferry over to the Tides Game, and then return to our car after the game. Please note, the last ferry leaves right after the game, so make sure you. Get out of the stadium in a timely manner (we learned this less on the hard way). The Ferry is just a few dollars each way. It has great views of the ships and downtown Norfolk. We usually grab a beer and maybe a snack at the Tides game, but typically, we’ll have dinner beforehand!
