How to find your wedding vision
You’re engaged, now what?! You need to know how to find your wedding vision! You are likely swimming in advice, opinions, and a few blogs like this one. It’s a lot, to say the least. After the freshly engaged bubble bursts and now you’re here trying to plan THE wedding. It can feel like you’re trying to create a day that’s you while everyone gives their two cents. Well, my friend, you’ve come to the right place! We’re chatting about how to create your wedding vision.
Why is a vision so important? Well, it’s the basis for where you’ll choose which wedding venues to tour and ultimately what one you’ll book. It will also cascade down to your other vendors, and help you choose who fits your vision the best.
The first step in creating a wedding day vision is to talk to your partner. My fun advice: Grab a bottle of wine or six-pack of beer and have a fun date night tossing around ideas. This is the time to have FUN! Don’t take things too seriously, this is the brainstorming phase. Talk about location, colors, and how you want to feel on the day of your wedding. Need some questions? Here are a few to get you started:
- Size: Large, micro, or in-between?
- Vibe: beach, traditional, black tie, or garden?
- Style: Modern? Traditional? Laidback? Beachy?
- Location: Close to home? Destination? Local?
- Bridal Party: None? Large? Small?
- Ceremony: Indoors? Outdoors?
These are to get the juices flowing on what you may want for your wedding day. It is VERY IMPORTANT to have this discussion with just our partner. Do not include parents, friends, family or neighbors. It is a day for you two thus you need to start with what you two want.
This discussion will lead to our next topic, boundaries! How? Once you know what YOU want and what day YOU want to create, you will have the confidence to communicate with your loved ones what wedding you two want.
