Jasmine & CJ’s Maymont Engagement Portraits

Jasmine and CJ wanted to have romantic engagement portraits at Maymont Park in Richmond VA while they were home during the pandemic.

CJ and Jasmine, have this beautiful energy about them. You can feel the chemistry they have. Like when you get them close enough to each other the world gets brighter.

We started their session at the Maymont Mansion, with its beautiful architecture and trees. With each prompt, they would get lost in the moment together. (Queue my romantic heart exploding) Throughout their portraits, you see they were making memories.

Jasmine and CJ, placed their trust in me with a 2 pm start time for their Maymont engagement portraits. We were facing a few potential rainstorms during our original time slot. With each engagement portrait, I create a backup plan. It’s typically a second timeslot or even a different day.

When you think of mid day, you probably invision squinty eyes, bright harsh light and the chance for a sunburn. I see harsh light and fireworks start going off in my head.

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room, harsh light. Harsh light can be a nightmare for some. I have dedicated a lot of time & education to handling all lighting scenarios. So when you see me walking around with my hand in front of my face it’s a proven scientific method on choosing the right placement and lighting. Very scientific.

Jasmine and CJ love to dance together, something I adore in couples. I asked them to dance together. Sure enough, they got lost in the moment and my heart exploded again. It was one of those moments, where I realized their family will look at this images in a few decades and see the true love these two have for each other.

The way CJ looks at Jasmine and the way Jasmine can’t help but hold her heart from beating out of her chest at the touch of CJ. Their beautiful love story will be told for generations.
