How The Met

Colleen and Johnny met during anatomy lab on the very first day of medical school. What began as shared time over lab tables quickly turned into a strong friendship, and anatomy class became the place where their bond quietly grew.

Eventually, Johnny worked up the courage to ask Colleen out… and she said no. But timing has a way of sorting itself out. A few months later, Colleen came around, and from that moment on, the rest truly was history.

The Proposal

Johnny proposed while the two were visiting his family’s lake house in Birmingham, Alabama. What started as a simple walk around the lake quickly turned into a moment neither of them will ever forget.

Colleen insisted they wear big hats to block out the sun…completely unaware that Johnny had something much bigger planned. On the opposite side of the lake, overlooking the house, Johnny got down on one knee. Colleen was holding a Diet Coke, dressed in a t-shirt and running shorts, and fully caught off guard.

It was hilarious, heartfelt, and perfectly them. To make the moment even sweeter, Colleen’s family flew into town that same day to surprise her and celebrate the beginning of their next chapter.

The Wedding

Colleen and Johnny’s wedding day began with a beautiful ceremony at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Norfolk, Virginia. The space felt timeless and reverent, setting the tone for a day rooted in meaning and commitment.

From there, the celebration continued at the Neon House! Their reception was a full-on party, filled with laughter, dancing, and a kind of joy that was absolutely magnetic. Looking around the dance floor you could see just how loved these two are.
