Imagine being woken up at 3 am. You’d be mad, right? What if your room was filled with candles, pictures of you and your love, and rose petals? To top it off your boyfriend is down on one knee because he couldn’t wait another minute to ask you to marry him.
That was Madi’s wake up call on October 27th, when Randy asked her to marry him with their pup Sully by his side. Randy had asked Madi’s parents for her hand just a few short hours earlier, he couldn’t wait. At 2am he went to CVS to print pictures of their adventures over the last three years. He rushed back and set up the perfect proposal for Madi.
Engagement portraits are a great way to smash those camera fears, and get comfortable with your photographer. Randy and Madi had a crash course in trusting me as their wedding photographer.
We had planned to do their engagement portraits in Richmond VA, near the James river, well mother nature had other plans. On the cuff of a cold front that sent the James River on the rise and the temperatures dropping, I had to use my alternate plans. In my experience, it is important to have a few back up locations, and plans for any session. Thus when the river swallowed up our first location, we ventured to Belle Isle for their Bele Isle Engagement Photos!
We walked around Belle Isle, which felt like it was reserved just for us. Giving Randy and Madi the chance to feel themselves without others intruding. They could be care free as they whispered to each other, bumped hips and flirted through their engagement portraits. With the heat of their chemistry you can’t tell they were just a little chilled.
